Datuk Seri (Dr) Michael K C Yam is the incumbent Chairman of InvestKL Corporation, a Government Investment Promotion Agency under MITI. He also holds chairmanship in several other companies such as Malaysia Airports (Niaga) Sdn Bhd, KL Airport Hotel Sdn Bhd, Mercure Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie, Triterra Sdn Bhd. He is currently the Senior Independent Director of 2 public listed companies, Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad and Paramount Corporation Berhad and until recently an independent director of 2 other PLCs and a global bank in Malaysia.
He is actively involved in advocacy and NGO activities currently holding the global Senior Vice President’s post of the Chartered Institute of Building, a Patron and Most Recent President of REHDA and a Trustee of Standard Chartered Foundation while being a guest lecturer at UTAR and also appointed an Adjunct Professor of UTM. He is also the chancellor of the University of Wollongong Malaysia KDU.
Prior to his early retirement in 2009 to manage his own private equity and advisory consultancy, he was the MD of a public listed property company developing and investing in properties not only in Malaysia but also in the UK, South Africa and Australia. He was voted Malaysia’s CEO of the year in 2002 and conferred with many honorary awards and titles including the Honorary Doctorate from Heriot-Watt University in 2021 in recognition for his contribution to the community and the property and corporate sectors.
